MESSAGE - PROGRAM CHAIR
Dear Colleagues,
As the ISLH Executive Secretary and Program Director
for the 2013 ISLH meeting, it is my pleasure to welcome
you to our annual meeting in Toronto. This has been
an exciting year for our society and the annual ISLH
meeting represents an important venue to foster
collaboration, knowledge dissemination and translation
among individuals in the field of laboratory hematology.
This year’s meeting has wonderful scientific program that
reflects the fruitful collaborations of the: ISLH leadership;
the 2013 scientific program co-Chairs, Dr. Betsy Van
Cott (on behalf of NASCOLA) and Dr. Marciano Reis;
Anne Raby (on behalf of QMP-LS); Dr. Linda Sandhaus
and also Drs. Chris Gardiner and John Frater, who led
the abstract review process; the society’s journal, IJLH;
session chairs and many others who contributed to the
program development including: Drs. Sam Machin (on
behalf of ICSH), Maria Proytcheva, James Hoyer, Piero
Giordano and Cornelius Harteveld. Drs. Steve Kitchen
and Szu-Hee Lee, and Samantha Gough are owed a
special thank you as they ensured that IJLH supported for
our vision to enhance the educational experience of the
ISLH conference by producing a dedicated, ISLH meeting
issue, comprised of state-of-the art reviews by invited
speakers. We thank the speakers for their enthusiastic
support of this initiative, the guest Editors, Mike Keeney
and Dr. Tracy George who devoted much time and effort
to make the issue happen, and the scientific program co-
Chairs, who helped recruit the contributors. The depth
and breadth of materials that will be covered at this year’s
meeting, in oral and poster sessions, and in the journal,
is fantastic and speaks to the quality of the international
community in laboratory hematology and its engagement
with our annual meeting. As the ISLH Executive
Secretary, and the 2013 ISLH Meeting Program Director,
I offer my sincere thanks to the many individuals who
made this year’s meeting possible, including the abstract
reviewers (who are listed in the meeting program), the
ISLH membership and corporate sponsors.
