MESSAGE - PRESIDENT
Dear Colleagues,
On behalf of the ISLH, I welcome you toTorontoCanada,
and ISLH 2013, the XXVI International Symposium on
Technological Innovations in Laboratory Hematology.
We are delighted to be holding our meeting in
collaboration with the North American Specialized
Coagulation Laboratory Association (NASCOLA); the
Quality Management Program-Laboratory Services
(
QMP-LS) and Institute for Quality Management in
Healthcare (IQMH); and the International Council for
Standardization in Haematology (ICSH). As usual, the
meeting is packed with state-of-the-art information
on cellular analysis, flow cytometry, hemostasis,
platelets, hemoglobinopathies, molecular diagnostics,
laboratory standards, and laboratory quality, presented
in simultaneous sessions, meet the expert breakfasts,
and oral and poster abstract presentations. Highlights
include:
May 9th, there is a pre-meeting half-day workshop
organized by QLM-PS and IQMH addressing important
external quality assessment topics (requiring a
separate registration fee).
May 10th, the meeting starts with opening plenary
session talks by world-renowned experts in laboratory
hematology and the keynote Berend Houwen lecture
by Dr. Catherine Hayward.
May 11th, the day starts with simultaneous oral abstract
sessions, and concludes with a plenary session
recognizing the highest scoring abstracts followed by
a special program to honor the birth 100 years ago of
Wallace H. Coulter, co-inventor of the Coulter principle
for cell counting as well as many other contributions to
Laboratory Hematology.
May 12th, simultaneous sessions with talks by invited
experts continue until the meeting concludes in the late
afternoon.
An added value for those attending this year’s meeting
is a special issue of the International Journal of
Laboratory Hematology (IJLH) containing companion
review articles written by many of our presenters.
