The International Council for Standardization in
Haematology (ICSH) meets twice a year, and by
tradition now meets annually for a day at the annual
ISLH academic meeting. The aims of ICSH is to prepare
evidence based guidelines and recommendations,
which are truly international, become freely available in
the prime review medical literature (usually IJLH) and
has authors representing all the differing geographical
areas where laboratory haematology is practised,
including third world countries where funding is often
limited. A specific project leader proposes relevant new
projects and themain lead author with a supporting wide
based writing group. Presently about 10 based projects
have been agreed and a strict time line proposed.
Funding from various commercial companies, who pay
a small annual donation, supports ICSH. The meeting
is open to all interested in laboratory haematology
who should register with the ICSH meetings secretary
(
Gini Bourner). After Toronto the next meeting will be in
London 7th-8th October 2013. Any interested parties
should contact me, the Chairman for further details.
