Te International Society for Laboratory Hematology (ISLH), non-proft organisation was
founded in 1992 by an international group of laboratory professionals, headed by Dr Berend
Houwen and Dr Bruce Davis in order to chart new directions for laboratory hematology. ISLH
had its origins back in 1984 where the frst meeting on “Technical Innovations in Laboratory
Hematology” was held in Lake Louise, Alberta Canada. Te meeting became a must attend event
on the calendar for hematology laboratorians culminating in the decision to form ISLH in 1992.
Te ISLH, from those humble beginnings has now grown to the stage where it has near 700
members globally from over 50 countries. It is truly international in all aspects of its business with
annual scientifc meetings held in the US, Europe and Asia. ISLH has also been instrumental in
standards and guidelines development in laboratory Hematology. Tese include the publication
in 2001 of the frst fow based reference method for platelet counting and the publication in 2005
of “Te International Consensus Group for Hematology Review: Suggested Criteria for Action
Following Automated CBC and WBC Diferential Analysis.
Tis symposium will provide exhibitors a unique tradeshow opportunity to interact with
researchers, laboratory professionals, physicians, medical laboratory scientists and technologists,
business colleagues and other suppliers all working or intersted in laboratory hematology. Most
of the attendees are key decision makers eager to not only learn about new technologies and
innovations in Laboratory Hematology but also to evaluate suppliers’ products.
Tis year’s symposium will be held in Nice, France at the Nice Acropolis Convention Center.
Te capital of the Riviera and ffh largest city in France, NICE lives of a glittering reputation,
its former glamour now gently faded. First popularized by English aristocrats in the eighteenth

major city: superb culture, wonderful street life and excellent shopping, eating and drinking, all
set against a backdrop of blue skies, sparkling sea and sub-tropical greenery.
Te symposium and poster sessions will have an extensive program of local and international
speakers, cover a wider range of topics and issues including:
• Cellular Analysis
• Molecular Diagnostics
• Trombosis and Hemostasis
• Platelets
• Flow Cytometry
• Point-of-Care
